New Book Covers

So, I was recently looking for copies of The Tower and the Hive Series by Anne McCaffrey and have discovered that they are redesigning the covers for these books.  I loved the old covers and they are always books that I can immediately identify from their covers.  Am not so sure about theses new covers but they are starting to grow on me.  The new covers can be found on the penguin.com USA website and are only available for the first three books in the series; 'The Rowan', 'Damia' and 'Damia's children.


Do you think that as books get older that they need to be re-released with updated covers or are the covers from the original books so much a part of the book that the new covers spoil the book?  I understand the need to have different editions of books from different countries and I love seeing the different cover designs that are available.

Let me introduce myself

Hi everyone, I am Belinda and I live in Southampton in the UK.  I read a lot and am always keen to try new authors and genres but I can never really find anyone to talk about all this so I have decided to start this blog so that I can share my thoughts and see what other people think.  At the moment I tend to be reading more paranormal fiction but I also read YA fiction, urban fantasy, general fiction and also a lot of the newer books coming out that look promising.  

I am hoping to get to know other avid readers and am always looking for some good recommendations and I hope that this site will allow me to recommend new books to others.
